(Senior) Medical Director – Gene Therapy
(Senior) Medical Director – Ophthalmology (Gene Therapy)
Clinical Development | Global Biotech | Remote (Europe-Based)
We are partnering with an innovative, clinical-stage biotech advancing the next generation of gene therapies for inherited ocular diseases. With cutting-edge AAV vector platforms and a highly respected leadership team, they are expanding their clinical development footprint globally and are seeking a (Senior) Medical Director to lead their programme through early-phase trials.
This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking company at the forefront of genetic medicine, where you’ll help shape the clinical path from first-in-human to late-stage development.
The Role:
- Own the clinical strategy and execution across multiple phases of development for ophthalmology programmes
- Provide medical and scientific leadership across protocol design, benefit/risk evaluation, and regulatory documentation
- Act as the clinical lead for trials, including site training, medical support, and oversight of trial integrity
- Lead on-site feasibility discussions, enrolment planning, and key operational input in collaboration with clinical operations
- Build and manage relationships with principal investigators, thought leaders, and cross-functional teams
- Support responses to regulatory authorities and contribute to HA interactions and advisory meetings
What We’re Looking For:
- Medical Degree (MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent); preferably with a background in ophthalmology or relevant medical specialty
- Demonstrated experience in clinical development, ideally with gene therapy or advanced therapies in biotech/pharma settings
- Proven track record in early-phase trials, including medical monitoring and cross-functional trial leadership
- Sound understanding of clinical trial design, ICH-GCP, regulatory strategy, and compliance requirements (EU/US)
If you’re passionate about bringing transformational therapies to patients with high unmet need and have the experience to drive global clinical strategy…we’d love to connect.
